About Ms Maricel D. Bitas
Ms. Bitas is a highly experienced and certified professional
in caregiving, boasting over 16 years of
hands-on experience, coupled with 9+ years as a distinguished Technical
Vocational Education and
Training (TVET) Trainer and Assessor for TESDA in Region IV-A (Cavite).
Her expertise lies in training
and assessing the competency of aspiring caregivers and
housekeeping professionals for national
certification. Ms. Bitas's commitment to service extends
to her role as a Lieutenant Junior Grade
(LTJG) Officer in the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary,
where she actively contributes to
humanitarian efforts.
Expertise as a Vocational Instructor and Assessor
Since November 2014, Maricel has served as a Vocational Instructor,
Caregiver, at Sister of Mary
Banneux, Arkanghel Advanced School of Caregiving and Safety, Inc.,
and at Beatitudes
Technological and Theological College. Her extensive instructional
career also includes significant
tenures at Cavite School of Saint Mark and Nightingale Caregiving and Advanced Technology
School.
In addition to caregiving, Ms. Bitas has served as a Vocational Instructor,
Housekeeping, at
institutions like the Center for Community Transformation Group of Ministries,
Pag-asa Social Center Foundation, Inc., and
Christ Life Training School in 2015, showcasing her versatility in TVET.
Ms. Bitas is a highly qualified TESDA TVET Accredited Assessor – Caregiving
NC II in the Philippines since July 2015, and holds
National Technical-Vocational Education and Training Level 1 Trainer certifications
in Caregiving, Health Care Services, and
Housekeeping. Her credentials also include multiple Certifications on Calibration
of Competency Assessors and Assessment
Moderation, alongside a Trainer’s Methodology Certificate 1 (TMC 1).
Comprehensive Caregiving and Healthcare Experience
Ms. Bitas' practical experience in caregiving is robust and varied:
• Aide, Special Care-Nursing at Saint Paul Hospital Cavite. This role involved direct
patient care, including assisting with
personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, vital sign monitoring, administering first aid,
collecting specimens, and transporting
patients. She was also responsible for maintaining patient rooms and managing supplies.
• Caregiver - Seniors/Elderly at Tahanan ni Maria: Provided companionship, personal care
(ambulation, bathing, dressing),
meal planning (including special diets), and light housekeeping duties.
• Caregiver - Child Care at Little Angel Homes Orphanage: Supervised and cared for children,
including infants, performing
duties such as bathing, dressing, feeding, preparing formulas, maintaining a safe environment,
instructing on personal
hygiene, supporting emotional and social development, and providing age-appropriate educational
activities. She also
managed records for each child.
Her practical skills encompass First Aid, Basic Life Support, and Cardio Pulmonary
Resuscitation (CPR), along with specialized
care and support for infants, toddlers, children, the elderly, and people with
special needs, in addition to housekeeping and
meal preparation. She is proficient in MS Office applications and virtual meeting
platforms like Zoom and Google Meet.
Education, Training, and Community Service
Ms. Bitas's educational background includes a Diploma in Caregiving (2008) and a
Diploma in Housekeeping (2014). She also
holds a Diploma in Dental Technology from Centro Escolar University (1992), where
she was recognized as a College Scholar,
and has undertaken undergraduate studies in BS Computer Science at AMA Computer
University and BS Commerce at the
University of Sto. Tomas. She is a certified National Certificate Level 2 (NC2) holder
in Caregiving (2018-2023), Health Care
Services (2016-2021), and Housekeeping (2015-2020) by TESDA. She has continuously
enhanced her skills through various
trainings and seminars, including:
• Facilitating eLearning Sessions and Practicing COVID-19 Preventive Measures
(TESDA Online, 2021).
• Basic Life Support and CPR (Philippine Heart Association, 2018; Philippine National
Red Cross, 2008).
• 5S of Good Housekeeping (Philippine Trade Training Center, 2014).
• Comprehensive Trainer's Methodology 1 modules (TESDA PTC, 2013).
• Standard First Aid Training (Philippine National Red Cross, 2008).
As a Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG) in the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary since
February 2020, Ms. Bitas provides vital
support for maritime safety, marine environmental protection, search and rescue,
and humanitarian activities. She actively
participates as a Medical Staff in coastal clean-ups, vaccination drives, and medical
and dental missions.
Her profound commitment to community service has been recognized through significant awards:
Solar Homes Community Service Award/Recognition (2013) for providing over three years
of free caregiving and health
services to 8 elderly individuals and 1 child with disabilities.
Volunteer Service Award - Community Health Services (2011) for invaluable service to
distressed people.
Volunteer Service Award - Medical Mission (2012) for outstanding contribution to the
success of medical missions.
